It was included in the 1st ASEAN Sculpture symposium at Fort Canning Hill, Singapore, and has been there ever since. The Fredesvinda was nicknamed 'The Ship of ASEAN' as it's structure represent the skeleton of a ship. It also symbolises ASEAN unity and cooperation. 

"One critic described the work as a “surreal tambayan.” At a glance it looks like an ancient boat with rib cages for its hull. The repetitive beams resembled the Romanesque arches of cathedrals in Europe." (Tomacder. F. P., para. 27).
